Annabelle Lee-Mather

Annabelle Lee-Mather is an award-winning journalist and producer who has worked across the New Zealand media over the past two decades. Lee-Mather began her television career in 2004 on Māori Television’s te reo Māori news show Te Kāea. During her 11-year tenure at the network, she eventually took on the role of executive producer for the acclaimed current affairs series Native Affairs.

In 2016, Annabelle joined Great Southern Television, producing the current affairs programme The Hui (Three) and creating and executive producing the run-away hit series The Casketeers (TVNZ) which was then picked up by Netflix. While at Great Southern Television, Annabelle developed a range of successful programmes including Hongi to Hāngī, My Māori Midwife, Aroha Nui, Say I Do (TVNZ) and Kia ora, Good Evening (Three).

Annabelle’s career spans beyond factual programming, with contributions to drama as an executive producer for Friends Like Her (Three), One Lane Bridge (TVNZ), and N00B (Three).

A graduate of Te Panekiretanga o Te Reo (Rangapū 5), Annabelle’s editorial prowess earned her the title of Editorial Executive of The Year at the 2020 Voyager Media Awards. With seven consecutive wins for Best Māori Programme at the NZTV Awards since 2017, Annabelle’s contribution to Māori media and journalism continues through Aotearoa Media Collective.
